Ferrari back in race for Championship after Austria Win

The Austrian Grand Prix proved to be an exciting yet exhilarating race from the start with the sprint race happening on the Saturday which allowed red bull to grab some points in the standings for which Verstappen finished on pole position. Come race day though it was a different story with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz having an engine failure near the end of the race (he came out of the car fine and was assessed by onsite medical teams) meanwhile Leclerc (having issues with throttle) managed to keep steady and win the Austrian Grand Prix while Verstappen finished second and Mercedes Hamilton taking 3rd position and Russell taking a solid fourth place finish maintaining his consecutive top five finish streak for the majority of the season from the very beginning.

Ferrari were hoping for a 1-2 finish unlucky that it didn’t happen the way they wanted it to. However, it now means that Ferrari are back in the race for the championship and after the last five races didn’t go in Ferrari’s favour this win is definitely deserved.

Mick Schumacher was the fans’ Driver of the Day, having overtaken both McLaren’s Lando Norris (P7 having served a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits) and Haas team mate Kevin Magnussen in P8. Daniel Ricciardo made it a double points finish for McLaren in P9, both the team’s drivers enjoying renewed pace with their medium-hard-hard strategy.

Sainz was the third retiree, Williams’ Nicholas Latifi and Perez also bowing out, yet Ferrari have scored two consecutive victories to pile some pressure on championship leader Verstappen ahead of the French Grand Prix.
