At Daytona the New Porsche 963 had a Disappointing race debut

Porsche came with two of the brand new Porsche 963 racecar to Daytona to participate for the win at the 61st edition of the 24 hours of Daytona. However the result was not what Porsche had Hoped for.

The new prototype racecar started the race with a strong performance. However both of the Porsche’s couldn’t race against the race leaders due to technical problems. The first setback happened to the number 7 car which had to replace the high voltage battery. As the race progressed the cooling system got damaged and number 7 had to go back to the garage for repairs. The numer 6 car had a strong performance and even led the race for some time. But in the morning the gearbox broke down and with that the chance of a top result was over.

“Unfortunately, several defects set us back” said Felipe Nasr – #7 “first the battery, then the cooling system. Our engine overheated and we had to return to the garage. We learned a lot in this race. We’ll certainly make progress and we many more insights than before. The team never gave up and neither did the drivers. It simply wasn’t enough to succeed this time. Hopefully, next time.”

Of course Porsche hoped for more because the car performed great and managed to set some fantastic lap times. It look a long time to develop the new Porsche 963 and for that you hope to get some great results. But Porsche has learned form this race and will now focus on the next one.
