At the forefront of the Air Grand Touring’s enhancements is its remarkable range. Despite the increasingly stringent electric range testing procedures set forth by the EPA, the new Grand Touring maintains its EPA-estimated range of 516 miles – still the leader in the EV segment. What’s particularly noteworthy is its capacity to maintain this range even in adverse conditions, a feat achieved through the integration of heat pump technology borrowed from the Air Sapphire model.
However, range is just one piece of the puzzle. Lucid’s engineers have also prioritized efficiency and performance in the Air Grand Touring’s design. Through refinements in motor design, battery cell chemistry, and thermal characteristics, energy wastage has been significantly reduced, allowing for optimal performance even during prolonged, spirited driving sessions.
Addressing a common concern among EV drivers, Lucid has also made strides in charging capabilities. With improvements in fast charging technology, coupled with enhanced automatic preconditioning en route to charging stations, the Air Grand Touring’s 15-30% faster DC charging ensures minimal downtime and maximum convenience for its users.
According to Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO at Lucid, “The Air Grand Touring has retained its 516-mile range estimate, achieving this despite more-stringent EPA testing. More importantly, it delivers improved range and efficiency in a broader range of everyday, real-world conditions.”
