DETROIT, MI — In an interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box, General Motors President Mark Reuss confirmed that Chevrolet will be making an all-electric Corvette following its hybrid model that will be available early next year.

GM’s Ultium battery platform is expected to power the Corvette EV and it’s possible that the name “E-Ray” could refer to an electrified version of the Corvette. The body style and shape looks to be identical to the current petrol-fueled Corvette, with the only visible difference being that the brake calipers are yellow.
The gas-powered Corvettes, like the Z06, already offer impressive performance being powered by a 670-hp 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V8, so there’s no doubt that Chevy will flex its motor muscles to produce an equally, if not more, impressive electric model.
Current rumors surrounding the Corvette indicate that the hybrid model could have 1000 horsepower from a twin-turbo engine paired with an electric motor, on an all-wheel-drive powertrain.
News of the electric Corvette falls in line with GM’s plans to produce an exclusively electric fleet by 2035. Just last year, the company increased its investment in EVs to $35 billion in an effort to release 30 new all-electric cars by 2025.

The answer is – Yes.
Corvette should only be V8
V8 yes. Forced induction … why not? It could be packin over a grand from the factory using only dino juice. I’ve seen what GM can do at the Proving Grounds. It CAN be done – they’ve already done it!
Knowing the usual customer base of the Chevy Corvette and what attracts them to the brand… I’m afraid it would be a really BAD move to move the name of the legendary brand asociated with a great sounding V8 (plus unhealthy amounts of patriotism) to a electric float box.
