Review: Renault Twingo Electric Urban Night
Share

I have never driven an electric car before so when the Renault dealer gave this electric twingo as a loaner car I was quite exited. I personally am not the biggest fan of electric cars because I prefer the sound of an Engine and a manual gear box. But nevertheless I was exited to try the car out.

The Driving

The Renault Twingo electric urban night is a Compact hatchback intended to drive in crowded areas. With a battery that has 22 kWh and a 0-100 time of 12,6 seconds it doesn’t sound that exiting . On top of that it only has a top speed of 135 kmph however the car is super fun to drive. With the electric engine, the direct steering and RWD makes it really feels like a go-kart for the road. The small body of the car ensures it fits everywhere. I have driven cars from big enthusiasts brands like BMW, Porsche and Mercedes and this Renault might be as fun as some of those in its own way

The Exterior

I think the exterior of the Renault twingo urban night looks decent, this design has been around for almost a decade and I think it could had a more modern facelift. The Color and the rims are great I like grey cars but I think the rims would’ve better looked in silver but that’s just the spec of this specific car. The special livery the urban night has looks kind of cool a special livery really gives the feeling that you have a special car. The urban brand is both on the exterior and the interior and that gives the car a special touch

The Interior

The interior of the twingo is really cheap and for a car that starts at around €30.000 I think they could’ve done better. The drivers seating area is a bit to small for me and I am an average Dutch man in size. I am not a fan of the black and white seat it is supposed to look sporty and modern but I personally think it makes it look cheap.

Features

However you might think that there is a lot of tech in an EV nothing is further from the truth, the car doesn’t have keyless entry and has a regular handbrake instead of ebrake. There is a renault navigation system in it. For the rest it’s quite a basic car.

Conclusion*

I think it’s quite a fun car to drive, which I recommend to two kind of people. People who live in big cities because of the small form factor and the electric charge stations that are located in big cities. And people who only drive short distance because electric just works better for short distances than combustion engines do and this is quite a cheap electric car**.

*this is the first time I ever wrote a car review so please don’t take this as any buying advise and if you’re interested read a professional article.

** as it’s my first review I’d love to have some feedback for, the community
