Ferrari, unless Mercedes can somehow pull their car around
That’s not super likely. It’s fundamentally flawed. Only a complete redesign can save it. Which is really odd for Mercedes. Apparently, Aston Martin is in the same boat. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath. It looks like this is going to be Ferrari’s year. But it’s too soon to tell for sure. I doubt Mercedes is “sand bagging” either. It wouldn’t benefit this after the start of the season. Happens. That’s racing!
I think that most people thought they were sand-bagging during testing and the practice sessions. And then we saw Russell qualify P9 in Bahrain and knew all was not well (I cried). I really hope they get the car sorted but I think they’ve dug themselves a massive hole with their sidepod design.

Thanks, I’d only come to this conclusion after Bahrain qualifying but every day during testing I was writing about that Mercedes would show some performance at the race and it was their usual tricks. I think many believed that but they just went the wrong way with design which is very much unlike them.
